Amber takes three golds at Crawley

Fun and Games at the Phoenix Picnic

The Phoenix picnic on Sunday afternoon saw a  revival of the mighty 'Tug of war.'. The magnificent girls' team beat the boys' team 2-1 and lost only narrowly to a fiercely competitive 'ladies' team.

Darryl Hards wins Seaford Half Marathon

Daryll has been on the comeback trail for some time now and, after terrific runs at the Brighton half and full marathons this year, this win is well-deserved. It was a hot day and this hilly off-road course offers quite a challenge.

Vets win Silver in South Downs Way Relay

Phoenix had three teams entered in the 100 mile relay from Eastbourne to Winchester. The Vets team managed an excellent second place to Stubbington Vets by seven and a half minutes - 11 hours 28 minutes and 31 seconds (fifth place out of 57 teams).

Congratulations to Deb Friis and Dave Carter on the safe delivery of their son, Otis Frank Friis Carter. He was born 2 weeks early on Friday 21st May at 2:35pm and weighed 5lb 1oz. Deb was still running well into the pregnancy (as was Dave!)

Phoenix took 4 athletes down to the BMC PB Classic at Millfield near Glastonbury on Bank Holiday Monday. They all performed well with two PBs and two other solid and consistent performances.

Having been postponed a few times because of winter weather, the Club Annual Rewards Ceremony took place on Wednesday 3 February at a rainswept Withdean Stadium. It was good to see quite a few newer faces among the winners.

Sussex XC champs: Gold sun, silver frost, bronze medals

The turn out of seniors was terrific, with A and B teams scoring for both the men's and women's races. In brilliantly sunny but freezing conditions we did well to take bronze team medals in both events.
